- Description
A growing, well backed PLC Control Systems Company which specialises in the conveyor, materials handling, warehouse automation, sortation, distribution sector has asked us to search for an extra Control Systems Support Engineer due to extra workload in the UK.
PLC diagnostics, fault diagnosis of factory automation, conveyor, machinery is the key to this one. PLC programming would be great- but if you can read control logic/ PLC software, rectify faults, maybe do some small PLC code adjustments or upgrades- great!
Some experience of working with Siemens S7 PLC or Allen Bradley PLC control systems - and electrical fault finding experience would be good.
Because this is what you'll be doing: You'll be looking after customers who are using systems that have recently been installed in their factories, warehouses, and distribution centres-- PLC controlled conveyor, materials handling, sortation, stacking, picking and packing, narrow aisle, high bay systems. You'll be going to their sites to deal with recurring problems, faults on the conveyor, the machines, the automated system, using PLC's as a diagnostic tool, fault finding on electrical systems, drives, motors, controls. You'll also get involved with Upgrade projects- modifying and sometimes helping to write new PLC software.
Not all of it means a drive to site- sometimes you can cure the fault with a phone call. You'll also offer out of hours support on a rota system- 1 week in 6- the phone doesn't often ring, but you'll get extra on call pay nevertheless.
What's the best bit about working here? You get looked after, trained, developed, by a very human, engineer-led company that believes in give and take and work/life balance. There's a chance to work on some big sites in the UK, on big/ impressive/ fast systems, and by working alongside the Controls Engineers, to increase your PLC software skills whilst you're doing it too.
Great. But will they pay me too? Oh yes. You'll get a basic salary in the forties, paid overtime, extra oncall pay, good benefits, company car/ vehicle, and training and development when you need it.
The vacancy is ideal for someone living in: Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, South Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, Warwickshire.
