- Description
PLC Maintenance Engineer
Some Maintenance Engineering teams are very skilled in PLC automation fault finding, and other teams are not allowed to look at the PLC software- and other teams have no skills in PLC fault finding at all.
10 years ago, my Control Systems customers started to get calls from manufacturers and factories to ask “Can we borrow one of your PLC Systems Engineers to come to our factory to find a fault using their PLC skills?” The calls started coming every week.
So rather than ask the PLC Systems Engineers to stop designing and start going to sites, the company started up a new Division, to offer PLC Support Engineering to these manufacturing companies…..the number of sites asking for PLC fault finding support increased, so the number of Support Engineers increased.
Now in 2025, they have a BIG number of sites to support, including some very big name food manufacturers, who now rely on them to come to site to do the PLC fault finding and repairs on automated machinery of all types- packaging, processing, conveying, control panels, sensors, swapping out drives……..all from locating the fault by using the PLC as a tool.
So this means that I am looking for 2 new PLC Maintenance Support Engineers:
- Based in the Midlands – East or West
- Permanent Right to work in the UK
- Maintenance, Fault Finding, Diagnostics of PLC controlled systems and machinery
The person does not have to be a PLC programmer—a Maintenance Engineer who can fault find using a PLC / PLC software is ideal.
The company can give you extra training in different PLC’s, (Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, Rockwell Automation)…..whatever you need.
Salary—approximately £46000 basic salary, plus a company vehicle, plus paid overtime (I would think that you would earn £55K total) and a bonus, plus good benefits (pension, holidays, healthcare and others, laptop, phone etc)
