- Description
You are a Maintenance Engineer but you like working with PLC's. You can diagnose faults, you have done a bit of PLC programming, but you want to do more, learn more. You'd like to work with a Control Systems Design Engineering team to gain more PLC SCADA skills, go on Siemens and Allen Bradley training courses. Over time, you want to become a confident PLC programmer, able to design your own projects, go to customers sites to commission electrical panels and your own control software and see the job to its finish.
Then that's what we're offering here, A route to get away from shift working, out of maintenance and into the exciting world of industrial automation and process control engineering.
My clients are a busy, engineer-led company who have created an opportunity for an Engineer with some existing PLC skills to join the team, to develop further. Right now, you'll have a basic understanding of PLC software (ladder logic, TIA portal, function block for example- be able to read it, use PLC's as a diagnostic tool) and have an electrical background and a working knowledge of the types of machinery that you will find in a typical food, brewery, beverage, paper, process manufacturing site. You'll get training and development, but you will have the desire to grasp this knowledge, and upskill yourself too.
As you grow, you'll start working on PLC programming, projects, design, supporting the control systems, commissioning on customer sites in East Anglia and the East Midlands.
Your Location: Being based within 25 miles of Peterborough will help you to be able to travel to the rurally based HQ near Peterborough for 2 -3 days a week, and get the full benefit of your training and development, and be central for your customer site work too.
Salary: You'll get a competitive £36000-£43,000 basic salary, some paid overtime, company vehicle, a good range of benefits including pension, healthcare, holiday - but the backing to learn and use new controls skills is something that will benefit the rest of your life.
