- Description
This is an opportunity to develop your PLC control software programming skills, to get into industrial automation, engineering some real-world mechatronic control systems projects - to work from home - and to get on the job training and development. Is that you? Then read on.
My clients are an international Engineering company, employing 8000 people worldwide manufacturing electronic, mechanical and mechatronic products for the world's machinery manufacturers. At the heart of this is a team which develops PLC based Control Systems to automate the movement of many mechatronic machines- from a Tank or Armoured vehicle, Lifting systems for Tractors and JCB's, Dockside Crane controls, Scissor Lifts and elevators to Aerospace machinery. The UK Systems Team is small but growing, and is very busy with interesting projects, and now they have room to appoint an extra Control Systems Engineer who has some PLC software skills BUT wants to develop them further.
The team works remotely- so you can also work from home. Ideally you'll be based in Central England, somewhere between Bristol, London, in the Midlands, and as far north as Stafford to Peterborough. The team meets up in the Midlands once every 10 days, so living in the area I mentioned makes this meeting easy to get to. Maybe 5-6 time a year, you will also need to go with others in the project team to a customer site to commission your PLC control software project. Apart from that, you can work from home. Your daily work will be contributing to a given project by doing parts of the overall PLC software design and programming. As you gain more skills, you will do more of each project, until you can handle a project by yourself.
What do we need? PLC programming, control software skills are essential. Specifically, ladder logic or CODESYS knowledge would be good. An electrical, mechanical or mechatronic engineering qualification would be essential too. Some ability with other software languages such as C can be useful too. Based in England, working from home inside the central area that I described above.
