With a wider range of work going through their Design Engineering Department, my clients have created a role to develop a Mechanical Design Engineer with 1-2 years experience into a fully skilled, confident Lead Design Engineer of the future.
It's a plan that has worked well before. You'll enter with a Mechanical Engineering Degree or HND, possibly HNC, and 1-2 years' design engineering experience, 2D 3D CAD knowledge (Solidworks, Creo, Autocad Inventor etc), ability to use your mechanical engineering knowledge. You'll have a real liking for machines, machine tools, machines that pack, handle, convey, keep people healthy, put food on the table. Because as you develop further, that's what you'll be designing, from start to finish, from concept to ready to go built machines.
