- Description
In each of the past 5 years, my clients PLC, Automation, Machinery Design, Control Systems work has grown. Now in 2019, they're growing again, and would like to bring in a further PLC Automation Engineer into the Design, Development and Commissioning Engineering team.
Design, Development and Commissioning Engineering- that's basically what this new role is. Assisting in design- PLC programming- then taking a built system and testing the machine, testing the PLC software, debugging it, crawling over that machine's electrical, mechanical set up too. Then, when the machine or system is 100% ready for release, you go to a site to commission it, set it up, train the customers, do some product runs to check the machine works, any last minute PLC diagnostics, fault finding, troubleshooting and perhaps you'll go back in future years to service that machine on site too or upgrade it.
So in short, a role with a LOT of variety, working on PLC controlled systems from packaging machines, conveyors, test and assembly machines, robotic cells, materials handling systems, automated production lines and special purpose machinery for one off projects.
What do we need? Some PLC programming skills (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff, any PLC software experience) some electrical and mechanical knowledge, a liking for machines, happy to work at the factory and on site, and gain some new skills as you progress.
