Spares Procurement Engineer – Gas Turbines

Posted: August 20, 2010 at 1:52 pm

A role with a lot of variety– working for a Gas Turbine supplier, helping them to source parts and replacements for new and 10 – 20 – 30 year old installed machinery.

It’s a great job for an Engineer who likes to find suppliers, find a way of solving a problem, has the ability to read drawings, knows a bit about Gas Turbines of today and old Rolls Royce Olympus, old Rolls Royce, GE, Ruston gas turbines for example, where to get the parts, how to modify them to replace obsolete parts, and then build up a database of suppliers, prices, how you modified them, re-designed them to fit, etc.

You’ll almost certainly have a Gas or Steam Turbine Engineering background. Ideally buying, spares procurement, design, instrument/ control spares, mechanical issues, valves, pumps, piping on turbines – people who have worked on turbines and understand obsolescence issues, site maintenance issues, read drawings to take off the spares requirements etc.

Mechanical Design Engineer £29-£35k East Midlands

Having filled one vacancy, because of expansion at this special purpose machinery manufacturer, I am searching for an extra Engineer with 2D and 3D CAD Design experience.

You’ll be working in a team which designs machines from basic specifications through to a working machine ready for installation – some using existing modules, others totally bespoke.

The work involves mechanical engineering – sizing selecting bearings, gears, couplings, moving parts for machinery, stress / inertia calculations
and Design / Detailing of special purpose machinery using SOLIDWORKS 3D and Autocad 2D.

So, experience of 3D mechanical design engineering, ideally machinery design would be very much of interest to this client.

The Company is solid, growing, and investing, with a full order book, and the future looks good here.
