You’ll join a busy team of 5 Engineers designing PLC control software and electrical systems for machine projects in the UK and Export.

Typically the work requires experience of PLC programming, HMI configuration, and electrical circuit design / control panel design for each machine.
Specific experience of Autocad, Promis-E / RSWire for electrical drawings, and Siemens S7 PLC software design / programming would be useful – drives, servo motion and other machine control type experience would be especially useful too.

Spares Procurement Engineer – Gas Turbines

A role with a lot of variety– working for a Gas Turbine supplier, helping them to source parts and replacements for new and 10 – 20 – 30 year old installed machinery.

It’s a great job for an Engineer who likes to find suppliers, find a way of solving a problem, has the ability to read drawings, knows a bit about Gas Turbines of today and old Rolls Royce Olympus, old Rolls Royce, GE, Ruston gas turbines for example, where to get the parts, how to modify them to replace obsolete parts, and then build up a database of suppliers, prices, how you modified them, re-designed them to fit, etc.

You’ll almost certainly have a Gas or Steam Turbine Engineering background. Ideally buying, spares procurement, design, instrument/ control spares, mechanical issues, valves, pumps, piping on turbines – people who have worked on turbines and understand obsolescence issues, site maintenance issues, read drawings to take off the spares requirements etc.

Having filled one vacancy, because of expansion at this special purpose machinery manufacturer, I am searching for an extra Engineer with 2D and 3D CAD Design experience.

You’ll be working in a team which designs machines from basic specifications through to a working machine ready for installation – some using existing modules, others totally bespoke.

The work involves mechanical engineering – sizing selecting bearings, gears, couplings, moving parts for machinery, stress / inertia calculations
and Design / Detailing of special purpose machinery using SOLIDWORKS 3D and Autocad 2D.

So, experience of 3D mechanical design engineering, ideally machinery design would be very much of interest to this client.

Service Commissioning Engineer – NWest

A world leading PLC controlled machinery manufacturer is expanding its Service & Commissioning Department to bring in new skills and cope with an increased order book.

You will be involved in UK and Overseas Commissioning, Installation and Service / Repair trips to site mixed with factory based Machinery Test and Pre Commissioning.

Skills involved include PLC diagnostics (Allen Bradley, Siemens S7 PLC’s) electrical, electronic fault finding and repair of machine systems (drives, servo, motors etc) some mechanical pneumatic knowledge would be useful.

Training can be given on the machines applications, but PLC experience, machinery engineering experience, willingness to work overseas in repair or installation of equipment is essential.

Installation & Commissioning Engineer East Midlands

Due to growth, an extra Engineer is sought by a special purpose machinery manufacturer for both internal, test, development, machinery building and site commissioning overseas.

Overseas work will be part of the role, although not massive, your commitment might be around 12-15 weeks of the year away, with the reaminder spent in the factory.

What do we need? Mechanical, Pneumatic and Electrical Engineering skills — proven track record in installing special purpose machinery including PLC’s, maybe drives, Servo Motion.

Packaging machinery or Machine Tool backgrounds could be ideal. Experience of working away and abroad would be essential.

What are we looking for? PLC or Siemens S7 PLC experience is important. If you have a knowledge of one or more SCADA packages it would be ideal. The ones used here are either Rockwell RSView or Intouch SCADA. Main ability would be PLC ladder logic software programming, controllogix, rslogix.

INSTALLATION & COMMISSIONING ENGINEER to work in a team installing PLC Control Systems onto onshore Electrical Power Stations and Offshore Gas Turbine Power systems onboard oil gas petrochemical rigs.

This includes site support of PLC HMI Control & Instrumentation systems governing Gas Turbine driven generating sets, Service and Repair of control systems, Commissioning of new PLC controlled systems, and office based support of systems in the Midlands office.

Experience of PLC HMI or SCADA control software modification, support and automated machinery commissioning, service and repair is essential. Good knowledge of Steam or Gas Turbines ideally, Electrical, Mechanical skills, Rotating Machinery, Woodward NETCON or similar Turbine Governor systems very useful, as would offshore certification.

Because of the busy nature of this department, earnings are typically high, and a combination of basic salary (£30-33k), 39 hr week plus overtime, plus site pay enhancements can mean total earnings rise to £50,000 – £65,000 for the Installation & Commissioning Engineers here.
